Cripps Harries Hall

Planning

The planning system is constantly changing. So whether you are pursuing a planning application yourself or seeking to resist a development it is essential to receive up to date specialist advice.

What we do

Planning applications

If you want to make a planning application we can help - whether it is a house extension, a building in your garden or a major development on land that you own. In addition, special rules affect listed buildings, or those in a conservation area.

We deal with all associated documents. The planning authority may require you to enter into a planning agreement (a "section 106 agreement") or an infrastructure agreement dealing with highway changes or drainage, for example.

Planning advice

Related areas where we can help include:

  • Persuading the planning authority to allocate your land for development
  • Appealing against refusal of a planning application
  • Judicial review - getting a court to overturn a poor local or central government decision
  • Advice if you receive an enforcement notice
  • Tree preservation orders
  • Objecting to a neighbour's planning application

+ Planning law - Draft National Planning Policy Framework - Is this the return to planning by appeal? - August 2011
The draft National Planning Policy Framework (draft NPPF) has been described as the most important planning document since the Town and Country Planning Act 1947. This may be putting it too highly but it will certainly be a very important planning document. The draft NPPF was published on 25 July and is already attracting a great deal of comment during its 12 week consultation period which ends on 17 October.
