Construction - overview

Getting the details right can make or break a development project. Hiring quality consultants and contractors and negotiating effective contracts will help ensure the project gets off to a good start, while appropriate risk management procedures can prevent problems arising further down the line.

Our construction and engineering lawyers work closely with our specialist property lawyers to ensure that your project goes as smoothly as possible. Our in-depth knowledge of the industry covers landlord and tenant, public sector, housebuilding, commercial and mixed-use developments, as well as major regeneration schemes. We will work closely with you on your project, becoming an integral part of the team, to ensure that documentation is in order and potential issues are dealt with quickly and cost-effectively.

We can help you with:

Independent research describes our construction and engineering team as “switched-on”; it “knows its stuff and gives sensible, reliable advice.” Jane Ryland, who heads the department, has “a commercial outlook and a good knowledge of the market,” enabling her to give “advice that’s always in touch with current issues.” (Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession 2008).

We produce regular construction law bulletins. Click here to view examples of these.

If you would like to talk to someone about a development project or a specific construction or engineering issue then please contact Jane Ryland on 01892 506354 or at jane.ryland@crippslaw.com.

"One enthusiastic commentator described his team as being 'over the moon' with the advice and guidance that she Ryland had provided in relation to contract negotiation."
