Our Community
As a large and long established employer in Tunbridge Wells our ties to our community are strong and deep.
We have established a Community Involvement Policy that encourages and directs our activities in this area. The policy covers community projects, volunteering and pro bono work. For examples of some recent projects please click here. We normally work in partnership with local umbrella organisations but are willing to consider "one off" projects and requests for assistance that meet our general criteria.
Examples of our community involvement in addition to those activities carried out under the Community Involvement Policy include:
- Every year our people choose a charity to support. For 2009 our nominated charity is Pembury Portage.
- We run a literacy scheme in conjunction with St Barnabas Primary School in Tunbridge Wells. A team of our people give up their lunch hour to visit the school on a weekly basis to help children develop their reading skills.
- We are a regular sponsor of musical and cultural activities in the Tunbridge Wells area including the Tunbridge Wells Music Festival.
- We are a corporate member of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
- The Cripps Educational Trust was set up to mark our 150th anniversary and supports educational projects in the local area.
- Many of our people are governors of local schools and trustees of local charities.
