Our team has wide range of expertise and experience in advising a variety of media, advertising and marketing services businesses ranging from major multinational agency groups to small owner managed businesses.

We advise on a full range of issues including mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, commercial agreements with clients and suppliers, risk management issues, regulatory issues (for example under the CAP code), copy clearance issues, the protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights and commercial disputes.  Our lead partner spent over 8 years as Head of Legal at Mediaedge CIA: part of WPP Group Plc and is therefore well acquainted with how large agency groups operate and the legal issues that they face.

Recent experience:

  • Advising the management team of a research specialist on an MBO from a major agency group;
  • Advising a media agency on a joint venture to establish an outdoor specialist;
  • Advising a major agency group on credit exposure issues following the insolvency of an Icelandic Bank; 
  • Advising a specialist digital media agency on licensing certain of its software to a major agency group;
  • Assisting a communications agency in recovering unpaid fees from a former client;
  • Advising numerous agencies on their contractual arrangements with clients; and
  • Advising an advertising agency on protection of reputation issues in relation to a major celebratory featured in an advertising campaign created by them.
