Licensing

Licensing Overview

‘Praise rolls in for Tunbridge Wells-based Cripps Harries Hall LLP, which is lauded for “client care that is second to none,” combining a “sensible, helpful” approach with “value for money.”’ Chambers UK Guide 2008

Licensing law grows ever more complex and is being applied ever more widely. The Licensing Act 2003 introduced major changes to licensing laws in England and Wales, which not only affect businesses and organisations selling alcohol or providing ‘regulated entertainment’, but also those selling food between 11pm and 5am. In addition, if you are involved in betting or gaming activities you might be looking for advice on the Gambling Act 2005, which came into force in September 2007.

You can rely on our specialist licensing solicitors to take care of all your licensing needs. We can help with applying for new licenses or provide an ongoing service, managing all your licence renewals and updates so you can focus on running your business. For example, we recently advised a client on setting up an interactive TV betting business and successfully obtained a bookmaker’s permit for a well-known football club allowing betting to take place at its stadium.

Our licensing law team advises on:

  • betting and gaming licences
  • liquor licensing
  • entertainment licensing
